Let's get it working.
Most problems are a lost licence email or a macOS permission that was never granted. Both are below. Anything else, email me directly.
Resend my licence
Enter the email you used at checkout. If there is a saved purchase, we will send the original licence to that same address.
Permissions macOS asks for
- Microphone.Required for any dictation. System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → enable FlowType.
- Accessibility.Only needed if you turn on auto-paste. System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility → enable FlowType.
- Screen & System Audio Recording. Only needed if you turn on Screen Context for Compose. It is off by default.
After granting a permission, quit FlowType completely and reopen it — macOS does not always apply the change to a running app.
Common fixes
- The hotkey does nothing. Another app may already own that shortcut. Record a new one with Change in the Hotkey panel.
- Transcription failed. FlowType keeps your last clip so you can retry it instead of speaking again. Starting a new recording replaces it.
- Compose says no key. Compose needs your own OpenAI or OpenRouter key, saved in Settings. Transcription can stay fully local.
- The download email never arrived. Check spam, then use the lookup above to resend it to the same address.
Anything not covered here — bugs, refunds, feature requests, or a licence problem the lookup cannot solve.
